Posting for Surah Al-Ahzab ayaat 11 - 22; With benefits 5 - 8 inshaAllah.

Alhamdulillah this week students continue the reading for Tafsir Ibn Kathir for Surah Al-Ahzab (33) ayaats 11 - 20; Beginning with benefits 5 & 6, then benefits 7 & 8. The section covers "How the Believers were tested, and the position of the Hypocrites during the Battle of Al-Khandaq" thru "The Command to Follow the Messenger" (sallaAllahu alaihi wa sallaam)

Make sure you include your title for each benefit inshaAllah.

Here is the English Translation from Muhsin Khan at http://quranexplorer.com/Quran/Default.aspx

There, the believers were tried and shaken with a mighty shaking. (11) And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease (of doubts) said: "Allâh and His Messenger (SAW) promised us nothing but delusion!" (12) And when a party of them said: "O people of Yathrib (Al¬Madinah)! There is no stand (possible) for you (against the enemy attack!) Therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for permission of the Prophet ( SAW) saying: "Truly, our homes lie open (to the enemy)." And they lay not open. They but wished to flee. (13) And if the enemy had entered from all sides (of the city), and they had been exhorted to Al¬Fitnah (i.e. to renegade from Islâm to polytheism) they would surely have committed it and would have hesitated thereupon but little. (14) And indeed they had already made a covenant with Allâh not to turn their backs, and a covenant with Allâh must be answered for. (15) Say (O Muhammad SAW to these hypocrites who ask your permission to run away from you): "Flight will not avail you if you flee from death or killing, and then you will enjoy no more than a little while!" (16) Say: "Who is he who can protect you from Allâh if He intends to harm you, or intends mercy on you?" And they will not find, besides Allâh, for themselves any Walî (protector, supporter) or any helper. (17) Allâh already knows those among you who keep back (men) from fighting in Allâh's Cause, and those who say to their brethren "Come here towards us," while they (themselves) come not to the battle except a little. (18) Being miserly towards you (as regards help and aid in Allâh's Cause). Then when fear comes, you will see them looking to you, their eyes revolving like (those of) one over whom hovers death, but when the fear departs, they will smite you with sharp tongues, miserly towards (spending anything in any) good (and only covetous of booty and wealth). Such have not believed. Therefore Allâh makes their deeds fruitless, and that is ever easy for Allâh. (19) They think that Al¬Ahzâb (the Confederates) have not yet withdrawn, and if Al¬Ahzâb (the Confederates) should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the bedouins, seeking news about you (from a far place); and if they (happen) to be among you, they would not fight but little. (20) Indeed in the Messenger of Allâh (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allâh and the Last Day and remembers Allâh much. (21) And when the believers saw Al¬Ahzâb (the Confederates), they said: "This is what Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had promised us, and Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had spoken the truth, And it only added to their faith and to their submissiveness (to Allâh). (22)

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

My second benefit for today is from Surat Al-Ahzab, ayaat 11, where Allah says 'There, the believers were tried and shaken with a mighty shaking". Ibn Kathir goes to explain that Allah tells us what happened when the Confederates surrounded Al-Madinah and the Muslims were besieged and found themselves in straitened circumstances, with the Messenger of Allah in their midst. Thney were tried and texted, and were shaken with a might shaking. At this time hypocrisy emerged and those in whose hearts was a disease spoke about what they really felt. My benefit from this is that when Allah tested the Muslims with the Confederates, he exposed those men who were hypocrites by making them speak and tell everyone what was actually in their hearts.

My first benefit for today is from Surat Al-Ahzab, ayaat 12, where Allah says 'And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease said: "Allah and His messenger promised us nothing but delusion!". Ibn Kathir goes to explain that their hypocrisy becamne apparent, while the one in whose heart was doubt became weak, and he expressed the ideas that were in his heart because of the weakness of his faith and the difficult of the situation. My benefit from this is that Allah will surely expose you for what you are. I pray that Allah Subhanna Wa ta'ala makes us strong in our faith and keeps the disease of the hypocrites out of our hearts, ameen.

My second benefit is from surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 15 when Allah, says " And indeed they had already made a covenant with Allah not to turn their backs, and a covenant with Allah must be answered for. Ibn Kathir goes on to explains that this means Allah will inevitably ask them about that covenant. Then Allah tells them that fleeing from battle will not delay their appointed demise or make their lives any longer on the contrary, it may be the cause of their being taken sooner, and in a sudden manner.

What I learned from this is that when Allah calls you to fight in the Cause of Allah you shouldn't flee or hide in your houses. When you're called to fight in His Cause you should be honored and stand guard. If they didn't turn their backs on Allah He might have rewarded them a happy life in Jannah then a hard life in the Hell-Fire. When you make a covenant with Allah you must answer it and act upon that covenant. Even if you think fleeing from battle will delay your death or cause you to live longer it won't because you may end up being taken sooner and when you least expect it.

My first benefit is from surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 17 when Allah, says “ Who is he who can protect you from Allah if he intends to harm you, or intends mercy on you? And they will not find any besides Allah, for themselves any Wali (Protector, Supporter) or helper.

What I learned from this is that no one can protect you from Allah because only Allah is able to protect you. He is the only one who can protect, harm, or bring mercy on you. Those who seek helpers won't be able to find for themselves a Wali other than Him. Only with the mercy of Allah will we be successful in this life and in the HereAfter. Without Allah we wouldn't be anything an without him we wouldn't have anything.
