The most ignorant among the Son of Adam about evil are divided into two groups:

1. Kuffar (disbelievers): The extent of their ignorance about evil is due to the terrible nature of their actions: disbelief in Allah and the association of partners to Him; rejection of Allah's messengers; denial of the Day of Ressurection; waging war against the believers in Allah and abstructing (dedication) to the path of Allah. "And (remember) when they said: "O Allah! If this is indeed the truth from You, then rain down stones on us from the sky or bring on us a painful torment." Al-Anfal: 32

The disbeliever's degree of ignorance varies. In the case mentioned in the previous verse, the disbeliever's belief in Allah and the Last Day was blackened to such an extent that they viewed two realities as superstition.

However, there are some Kuffar who understand that some things are evil, but for some reason or another, they can't turn away from them, as in the example of Heraclius. After he realized that the Prophet's message was true, Heraclius assembled his people and said, "O Byzantines! If you desire success, right guidance and you want your empire to continue, then pledge allegience to this Prophet" (i.e. embrace Islam). (On hearing Heraclius's words) the people ran like fleeing asses. Heraclius realized their insistence upon disbelief (and hatred towards Islam). (When they returned) he said, "I only wanted to test the strength of your conviction and I have seen it." (Bukhari and Muslim)

In the past and present there have been disbelievers who corrupted their natural dispositions, but continued after the truth until they accepted it.

2. The Munaafiqun (hypocrites) and the Zandaqah (atheist): You know very well, that although the hypocrites outwardly display Islam, they are among the most ignorant of the many faces of evil. Their ignorance has been exposed in the Quran and the Sunnah:

"And wehn it is said to them: Make not mischief on the earth," they say: We are only peacemakers." Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. And when it is said to them: "Believe as the people have believed," they say: "Shall we believe as the fools have believed?" Verily, they are the fools, but they know not." Al-Baqarah: 11-13
