Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh 1438H/2016 Reasons for the revelation: Circumstantial & otherwise The shaykh states, that the revelation of the Qur`aan is divided into two categories. 1. Ibtidaaee: These verses are revealed unassociated with any specific circumstantial reasons. The majarity of the Qur`aan's verses are of this type. 2. Sababee, or Circumstantial: These are verses that were revealed based upon specific circumstances or incidents. The reasons could be: a. A question asked that Allah is answering. (example Surah al-Baqarah 2:189) b. An incident that occured requiring clarification or warning from it. (example Surah at-Tawbah 9:65 - 66) c. A specific action that took place requiring a ruling. (example Surah al-Mujaadilah, 58:1) This is just a brief note, it is strongly suggested that students read pages 31 - 42, there are a great many benefits discuss in this chapter mashaAllah tabarakAllah will update soon inshaAllah | |
